BIBLE SOCIETY is appealing for funds to help rebuild two of their bookshops in Egypt which have been destroyed during the current conflict.
Introducing the appeal, they write:
Last week we received reports that two Bible Society bookshops were attacked and destroyed in Southern Egypt. As violence broke out across the country dozens of churches and other Christian buildings were also targeted.
Ramez Atallah (General Director of Bible Society in Egypt) has asked for your prayers and appealed to Bible Societies around the world to raise $120,000 to rebuild both the bookshops in Assiut and Minia.
Here in England and Wales, we are urgently trying to raise £12,000 online to go towards the rebuild and renovation.
Ramez said “these were both beautiful, fully equipped bookshops. The attackers demolished the metal doors protecting the bookshops, broke the windows and set the bookshops on fire.”
