Following the leasing of the former Wesley Owen premises (145-147 North End, Croydon, Surrey CR0 1TN) to another company, plans by Living Oasis to reopen this store have been placed on indefinite hold:

Christian Booksellers Convention 'Large Retailer of the Year' 2009
This is my local WO. Croydon’s Christian community is easily big enough to support a successful Christian bookshop, but I understand that the problem is that although this store was among the highest in turnover of any Wesley Owen it also has an exceedingly high rent which renders it loss-making. But with its great staff team surely someone could make this shop work on a less central site…
It’s also the shop that won last year’s CBC ‘Large Retailer of the Year’ award. There’s something seriously askew in our trade if we can’t keep one of our best shops open!!
simply come on, theres more at stake here.
Lets not be blinkered lets find a location …within croydon that is cost effective and continue trading, marketing its new location to every church in croydon.
I don’t know who’s in charge butthe shop most not stop its work in Croydon.
I would like to say how grateful I am for the ministry of Wesley Owen Croydon. The books I have purchased at this wonderful shop over the last 10 years have changed my life. There was a gold-mine of books (and CDs)in the Bargain department and then there was “silly saturdays” ( 4 books for £10!). I cannot stress how important this bookshop has been to my growth in Christ.
Thank you, very much to all the staff. Andrew. West Yorkshire
